80년대 후반~90년대를 대표했던 영국의 전설적인 브릿팝 밴드, 라스.

그들이 활동했던 시기에 냈던 유일한 앨범 The La's의 수록곡이다.

우리나라에서는 노래만 알지 밴드 자체는 모르는 경우가 많은데

최근에는 '닥터스'라는 드라마에 이 노래가 삽입되어 사람들에게 어느 정도 알려졌기는 했다.

그래도 곡의 인지도에 비해 밴드의 인지도는 여전히 안습인 밴드.

(필자도 옛날 락 명반 모음집에서 우연히 들었던 거라..)

노래 장르는 팝 락(Pop Rock). 정확히는 Jangle Pop이라고 말하지만

어차피 Jangle Pop이라는 장르 차체가 팝 락에 속하기 때문에 별 상관은 없다.

개인적으로 라스의 노래 중에서 제일 좋아하는 노래이기도 한데

들어보면 정말 8~90년대 브릿팝의 감성을 온 몸으로 느낄 수 있다.

졍겹고 발랄한 기타 소리에 취하고, 감미로운 노랫소리에 또 한번 취하게 될 것이다.

소문에 의하면 이 노래가 헤로인을 은유한 노래라고 하던데

이 밴드의 프론트맨이었던 Lee Mavers가 활동 당시 마약 중독에 시달려서 어느 정도 신빙성은 있는 말이다.
