어제 드디어 더 체인스모커스의 첫 스튜디오 앨범이 공개되었다.

그동안 공개했던 Paris, Something Just Like This, The One을 제외하고

총 9개의 음악이 더 체인스모커스의 공식 유튜브 채널에 업로드되었는데

그 중에서 Wake Up Alone이라는 노래를 간단히 포스팅해보겠다.

이 노래는 Jhene Aiko라는 아메리칸 싱어송라이터가 피처링하였으며

장르는 퓨처 베이스라기보단 '트랩(Trap)'과 더 가까워보인다.

(물론 이건 지극히 필자의 생각이므로 아닐 수도..)

하이라이트의 리듬감 있는 트랩 비트가 이 곡에서 가장 인상적이라고 할 수 있다.

솔직히 하이라이트 전에는 그저 그렇고 평범한데

1:04초부터 잔잔한 노래 분위기가 갑자기 흥겨운 트랩비트로 반전이 된다.

필자는 이런 비트를 그다지 좋아하진 않지만

자칫 지루할 수 있었던 노래 분위기를 급반전시킨다는 점에서는

개인적으로 아주 좋게 생각하고 있다.

Jhene Aiko의 부드러운 목소리도 역시나 매력적으로 다가온다.

막 어느 부분에서 가창력이 폭발한다거나 그러진 않지만

잔잔하면서도 깊은 보이스로 인해 곡이 한층 더 살아나는 것 같다.

(하긴 이런 분위기의 노래는 크고 쩌렁쩌렁한 목소리가 그다지 잘 맞진 않을 듯..)
