불과 며칠 전에 유튜브에서 공개된 프렌치 DJ 데이비드 게타의 신곡.

필자가 지난 주 목요일에 Hey Mama라는 곡을 포스팅했었는데

우연인지 아닌지는 모르지만 이 노래에 화답이라도 해주는 듯

이번에 나온 신곡도 (필자가 좋아하는) 니키 미나즈가 피처링에 참가하였다.

참 들을 때마다 느끼는거지만 니키의 목소리는 참 쫀득쫀득하다.

마치 찹쌀떡처럼 귀에 쏙쏙 달라붙는 그런 목소리..?

기계음이 섞인 릴 웨인의 멋진 랩도 비트와 함께 잘 어우러진다.

Hey Mama와는 장르가 "트랩(Trap)"이라는 공통점이 존재하지만

이번 신곡은 좀 더 힙합적인 그루브를 강조하였다.

솔직히 보컬이나 다른 요소를 배제하고, 오로지 곡 자체로만 봤을 때는

개인적으로 Hey Mama보다 더 좋다고 생각하고 있다.

헤이 마마가 단지 트랩 비트과 멜로디만 단순하게 있는 노래라면

이번 곡은 베이스가 좀 더 힙합적이고 리듬감이 살아있다고 봐도 무방.

하지만 이와는 별개로 이번 게타의 신곡을 들은 리스너들은

약간의 호불호가 갈리고 있는 중이다.

하기야 이런 스타일의 노래는 대중적이고 많이 보편화되어서

호불호가 갈리는건 이해할 만 하다ㅋㅋ
