오랜만에 컴백한 The Chainsmokers의 신곡 Sick Boy, 이젠 완벽한 팝 밴드

미국의 DJ 듀오 The Chainsmokers의 신곡인 Sick Boy가 공개되었다.
최근에 신곡이 나온 줄 전혀 모르고 있었는데
일단 신곡의 퀄리티는 둘째 치고, 오랜만에 컴백한거에 대해서는 조금 반갑다.
예전에는 Roses같은 감성적인 퓨처 베이스 곡을 잘도 냈었지만
1집 이후로 이젠 팝(POP)으로 완전히 전향해서 개인적으로 참 아쉬운 마음이 든다.
이제는 EDM 밴드가 아닌 팝 밴드라고 부르는게 맞는 체인스모커스.

그래서 이번 신곡도 또 어정쩡한 팝이겠지~ 예상하면서 들었는데
뭔가 필자의 예상과는 전혀 다른 스타일의 노래라서 살짝 놀랐다.
팝 밴드가 아니라 락 밴드로 전향을 한건지
이번 신곡은 거의 Twenty One Pilots을 연상케 하는 스타일이다.
외국에서도 트웬티 원 파일럿츠와 콜라보한게 아니냐는 반응이 꽤 나오는 중.

물론 이번 줄담배 신곡은 개인적으로 정말 별로다.
아무리 노래 스타일을 바꿔보려 해도 똑같은 비트에 똑같은 패턴이라 너무 지겹다.
필자는 아무리 일렉이 아니더라도 '듣기 좋으면 그만'이라는 마인드를 가지고 있지만
이번 신곡은 듣기 좋은 것도 아니고, 그냥 어정쩡한 팝송에 불과한 것 같다.
이딴거 낼 바엔 Roses나 Closer같은 퓨베나 내줬으면 ㅜㅜ
