오늘 유튜브 채널에 올라온 OneRepublic의 크리스마스 노래 영상.

노래 가사만 보고 이미 눈치를 챘을 수도 있겠지만

러시아 태생의 미국인 작곡가 Irving Berlin의 유명한 노래인 White Christmas를 리메이크한 것이다.

기존의 원곡에서 얼터너티브 락 스타일로 적절하게 리메이크해서 불렀는데

왠만한 캐롤 음악에 비하면 캐롤 느낌이 많이 나진 않지만

곧 다가올 크리스마스가 설레일 정도로 듣고 있으면 마음이 따뜻해지는 캐롤 락이다.

러닝타임이 2분밖에 안되는건 아쉽지만 원리퍼블릭이 선물하는 짥고굵은 크리스마스 노래.

머라이어 캐리의 캐롤송이나 라스트 크리스마스 같은 유명한 노래들이 질렸다면

이런 락(Rock) 버전의 캐롤을 듣는 것도 괜찮은 선택인 것 같다.

참고로 위 동영상은 Bing Crosby라는 미국인 가수/배우가 불렀던 버전.

원래 해당 원곡은 빙 크로스비가 불렀던 버전이 더 유명했었는데

개인적인 생각이지만 이번에 원리퍼블릭이 부른 버전도 이거 만큼이나 휠씬 띵곡이다 ㅎㅎ
